Actor Refutes Anti-Vaxxer Views After Voicing Controversial Covid Feature
The acclaimed actor has provided his narration to a feature-length documentary that questions the safety of vaccines and lauds former cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a bestselling book written by Judy Mikovits, who became famous during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with controversial figure the Infowars host. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Denial
Representatives for Neeson have issued a statement pushing back against claims that he holds anti-vax views.
"We all understand that unethical practices may occur within the drug industry, but that must not be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson is not, and remains not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the UN children's agency underscores his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement added that the performer was not involved in crafting the project's editorial content and that inquiries about its assertions are best addressed to the creators.
Key Themes Featured in the Feature
In the film, the script spoken by Neeson features several controversial statements:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to government bodies.
- It declares that "medical science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is shown saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The film takes aim at stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it mentions a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Background and Recent Debates
It also references a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a BBC apology by the network for editorial breaches.
Last month, the political figure called on the CDC to revise its long-held position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This assertion is echoed in the documentary, despite a recent study from the World Health Organisation confirming no evidence has been found.
A Past Record of Advocacy
Contrasting the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This marks not the conclusion of our narrative. It is the beginning of a different phase."
