Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
