Renowned Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at Age 60.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the popular series The Middle.

US actor Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles this Monday following cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a announcement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.

Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
