Israelis have gathered across the country to remember two years since the Hamas-conducted assault on 7 October 2023, as negotiations advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the war in Gaza.

The assault led to in excess of 1,200 people dead and 251 others abducted away to Gaza as captives. It was the most most lethal day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel responded by beginning a military offensive in Gaza which has claimed over 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are regarded as accurate by the UN and other global organizations.

"The violent enemies have caused great damage, but they have not overcome us," Benjamin Netanyahu remarked on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the return of all the captured, the destruction of the Hamas administration and the promise that Gaza will never again create a threat to Israel".

Remembrance Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities rescheduled official commemorations until October 16th - after the completion of the festive season - but events still occurred across the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the relatives of Israelis who lost their lives in the Hamas assault was organized in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the affected families, it was broadcast across Israeli broadcast stations.

Some time earlier, a silent tribute was held throughout the country.

Negotiation Discussions in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' delegations gathered in the Egyptian coastal city of the negotiation venue for a second day of indirect talks to discuss the terms of the plan.

A high-ranking representative involved in the negotiations indicated that an night meeting of indirect talks commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official explained the morning session finished without tangible results, due to differences over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas seeks to ensure Israel does not restart hostilities after the first phase of the deal.

He added that the talks are "difficult and have yet to achieve any major advancement," but noted that intermediaries are working hard to narrow the disparities between the two sides.

Key Issues in Talks

  • An enduring ceasefire
  • The swap of the hostages still kept by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Measures for humanitarian aid deliveries
  • Future governance of the territory

Citizen Reaction

In the city's memorial area earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose brother endured the incident on the outdoor event, where many attendees were lost their lives and dozens more were taken hostage by Hamas militants - shared: "Nowhere feels like home any longer and until every captive return no one will be secure."

"When we see everybody home again, we can breathe once more. Then we can commence rebuild," she continued.

Near the prime minister's residence in the capital, people gathered to express their support for the families of the captives. Israel states forty-eight remain in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are believed to be surviving.

Protester a participant stated: "We need do any agreement necessary for the hostages to come back home. But we sincerely need promises that we will be protected."

Surveys now regularly indicate that approximately seventy percent of the population prefer the conflict to end in return for the liberation of the captives.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the site of the music event, those paying respects came together to pay their respects.

From that location, the sound of Israeli air strikes and artillery could be noticed just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where observers reported the intense Israeli attacks carried on.

In the urban center, air and artillery strikes were documented in the morning of Tuesday in the western neighborhood, area and locality districts and in the east side area of the community, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"Once the night comes, the dread appears with it," relocated Gaza City resident a local woman, whose 17-year-old son was died by an Israeli aerial attack earlier, shared.

"Me and my three children are fearful of the attacks. All the night we are sleeping together, embracing, especially my smallest child who places his head on me all night."

"Every second we look at the news to see what happened. And I'm worried that this halt will not be achieved and that the war will return to us."

Medical Crisis

The medical facility in Gaza City announced it had taken in the corpses of half dozen people by the afternoon, including several who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Another medical facility in the southern urban center of Khan Younis reported additional dead people had been delivered. An individual was lost his life by Israeli forces while looking for assistance to the southern area, medical staff stated.

The territory's health ministry said 25 of the {territ
